MENTOR,
FACILITATOR,
STRATEGIST,
MOTHER,
SCOT.
My passion in life centres around people, and seeing them grow.
I think of my role simply to empower people to be the best version of themselves. Using their gifts to find their calling and make a difference. In their community. Within their business. Changing their world for the better.
Growing up in Scotland, I was always aware of bigger horizons and had a deep interest in people and the wider world at large.
In my early teens I was so inspired by the transformative effect that three days at a health retreat had on my mum that it set me on a path to the global beauty and personal care industry. Initially studying International Spa Therapy and Management this led onto a career that has spanned decades, taking me all over the world working with renowned brands and many truly inspirational people.
Finding
Balance and Priorities
My career choices have always been relationship driven. The challenges I have faced have been about balance and putting priorities in place. What I’ve found is that putting these values first has been career changing for me and provided me the access to a huge diversity of skills to work in and develop.
My experiences have shown me that there is opportunity to do everything we choose in life, understanding that we don’t have to compromise family, relationships or values in the process.
As a young working mum, the typical culture at that time was for a woman to either have a family or excel in her career. So, when I made what seemed like a huge choice to step down as Sales and Education Executive at Estee Lauder Companies it was due to the realisation that as much as I loved my job, I love my relationships and family more. On reflection I now realise this decision led to wonderful career opportunities that would otherwise never have come my way.
These experiences has proven to me that Culture is everything in business.. With the right culture in place businesses can flourish through actively supporting good work-life balance. This is essential for individuals to thrive and achieve their true potential.

My experiences have shown me there is an opportunity for people to do everything they want in life, but there’s also an importance for women not to feel like they have to compromise family, relationships or values in the process.
As a young working mum, the typical culture at that time was for a woman to either have a family or excel in her career. So, when I made the huge choice to step down as Sales and Education Executive as Estee Lauder it was due to the realisation that as much as I loved my job, I love my relationships and family even more. I’ve also learned over the years that neither needs to be exclusive and there is always time to do both.
This experience has proven to me that Culture is everything in business. Our current team is diverse, with a broad range of backgrounds, skills, ethnicities and gender. With the right culture in place businesses can succeed and this is true everywhere but particularly I’ve found that tech start-ups need to implement flexible working, allowing for women to have a family and a career. Leaving room for work-life balance is essential for helping people achieve their true potential.
Seizing opportunities
In 2015, I decided to start my own consultancy, Rise Business Growth. The opportunity was ripe for me to put all of my experience and skills into practice with a consultancy dedicated to supporting and advising organisations on how to grow their sales, profitability and market share. Working with businesses as diverse as SME’s and publicly quoted corporations, our underlying philosophy is to provide only the strategic services identified to achieve growth ambitions and add value to the business using a formula that had been proven and served myself, and the brands, strategically up till then.
From there my career took a serendipitous, albeit slightly unexpected, turn when I met the co-founders of skin-tech company, Cutitronics. This created the opportunity to accept the offer of an executive role leading the commercial development of a truly innovative device and digital platform designed to revolutionise how consumers take care of their skin.
I have a passion for helping people feel well, and the role as Commercial Director allowed me to do this in an incredibly dynamic field, putting my wealth of knowledge and experience into practice over 4 exciting years.

I never leave a meeting with Wilma without have received more than I give.
